Work Sessions

Chapter Work Sessions

Throughout the year Twin Forks has work sessions held on certain days of the month to work on our equipment. Below are images of our past work sessions. This page will be updated accordingly.

2008 Work Sessions: Work Sessions will take place at the Riverhead Yard. Every member is invited to participate, have fun and lets get some work done with your fellow members. No special requirements are needed, just the desire to help make a difference. Save these dates, official work sessions are as follows : April 26, May 30, June 28, July 26, September 28 and October 25. Work sessions will take place rain or shine. In addition to the listed work session dates, we will meet on an as needed basis, usually on a weekday evening during the summer. Please note that it is a goal to complete C-60 by mid summer and start work on our Jordan Spreader, as soon as possible. If you want to be notified by email of work session dates and extra work sessions, please email the Chapter a TwinForksnrhs@aol.com. This will place you on our Chapter notification list. Some of our members are already on this list, so if your not on the Chapter Email list, let us place you on the "E-Mail Notification" list.

2007 Work Sessions
During 2007 work was focused around doing the small touchup work on C-60. This included painting the steps, handrails, grab irons and getting it ready for lettering. On one occasion VIP Member Doug Diamond made the trip out from Brooklyn to lend a hand on C-60.

April 2006 Flatcar Work Session
Paul Strubeck is caught here working on our Flat Car MTA 110. The Flatcar is a former AT&SF bulkhead flatcar. We plan to bring here back to a Sante Fe livery in the near future. According to the AT&SF Historical Society, they were surprised to find the car made it to the east coast. The car is a rare car, that was made longer then it was when it was built. We are proud to be the guardian of this historic flat car.

2005 C-60 Work day
In June of 2005 No-Chem stripping company stripped the interior of C-60 down using an environmentally friendly media of walnut shells. That night after No-chem was done members worked to prime the entire interior so as it would not rust. While No-Chem was working the outside was primed. Photos by Richard Gorddard
